Gowri Cheepurupalli

Gowri Cheepurupalli currently works as a Civil Litigation Associate at Employee Justice Legal Group, where she represents employees in workplace disputes. In doing so, she draws on both her litigation experience as well as her strong dedication to civil rights.

Gowri is a recent graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City, where she earned her J.D. During law school, Gowri’s education focused largely on criminal law and civil rights, specifically post-conviction relief and rights of incarcerated individuals. She also served as the President of the Student Bar Association and was the recipient of both the 2024 Mark Whitlock Scholarship and Professor John Appel Award for exemplary service to the student body.

Prior to joining the firm, Gowri gained valuable experience as a Clinical Intern with the Innocence Project, resulting in the exoneration of a client. She was also a Law Fellow with the New York County District Attorney’s Office, whereby she refined her litigation skills. And finally, she served as a Civil Rights Legal Extern for Rickner PLLC and Roth & Roth LLP, focusing primarily on complex civil rights litigation.

Before beginning her scholarship at Cardozo School of Law, Gowri earned a B.A. in Political Science from Drexel University in Philadelphia. Shortly thereafter, she served as an HIV/AIDS Capacity Building Specialist for the Peace Corps in Serowe, Botswana—where her passion and desire to fight for civil rights truly began.
